TORONTO – The leaders are off and running. Already the Media is asking what are the issues. Not one outlet has asked who are the constituents who will directly vote for these leaders as individual MPPs, directly. It is the editorial position of the Corriere that no matter the issues that emerge the reaction of the Parties may ultimately reflect who lives in the ridings the MPPs represent.
We are an Italian language newspaper. We have focused on the composition of self-identified ethnic Italians, as per Census 2021, in each riding.
I have been assigned to research and translate those figures and more for our editorial board to develop. With all respect to other cultural groups, we will focus daily on ridings where the presence of Italians may “turn the tide”, especially in “swing” constituencies”.
