POTENZA (Italy) – On Thursday September 2, in the Municipality of Pietrapertosa (Potenza, Italy), two scholarships were awarded in memory of Anne Marie D’Amico, young Canadian – whose family comes from the small town in Basilicata – who was a victim on 23 April 2018, in Toronto, by the murderous madness of a man who overwhelmed a group of people with his van, killing ten and injuring fifteen.
The prizes, offered to the Lucan Municipality by the “Basilicata Cultural Society of Canada”, were awarded to Rossella Zottarelli, for scholastic merits, and to Samuele Scartabelli for his commitment in voluntary and social work.
The scholarships are $ 2,000 each.
Rossella Zottarelli, born in 1998, graduated in Economics and Commerce, is currently a student in Economics and Management at the University of Basilicata. “I will invest the scholarship money to increase my cultural background and to pay for college expenses,” she said.
Samuele Scartabelli, born in 2004, is a photographer and videomaker: “In the future – he said – I wanto to open a photographic studio and continue with this work”.
The president Antonio Locantore, the vice president Nina Mazziotta and the treasurer Paolo Petrozza were present for the “Basilicata Cultural Society of Canada”.
