Poland’s divisive “ethical directions” presidential election ends in a virtual tie

TORONTO – Final results have not yet been made official, but exit polls suggest that the victor was Andrzej Duda by the slimmest of margins – 50.4% – over Rafa Trzaskowski.

None of the eleven candidates in the contest in the first round (held June 28) was able to garner the necessary 50% + one of the vote to win. yesterday’s election, which saw the appeal by Poland’s Catholic Primate, Archbishop Wojciech Polak for moderation post election.
