Milano-Cortina 2026 International Roadshow Arrives in Toronto
TORONTO – The Consulate General of Italy in Toronto, in collaboration with Fondazione Milano-Cortina 2026, is proud to host the Canadian stop of the Milano-Cortina 2026 International Roadshow, taking place on Thursday (tomorrow, July 17, 2025), at The Distillery Historic District.
The event is presented under the auspices and leadership of Consul General Luca Zelioli, and is held in collaboration with the Italian Contemporary Film Festival (ICFF) and the Italian National Tourist Board (ENIT S.p.A.). This special evening – already sold out – invites Canadian and international guests to explore Italy’s dynamic role on the world stage through sport, cinema, and cultural innovation.
The highlight of the program will be a keynote address by Andrea Varnier, Chief Executive Officer of Fondazione Milano-Cortina 2026, who will share insights into the planning of the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. With leadership experience from the Olympic Games in Turin 2006, Beijing 2008, and Rio 2016, Mr. Varnier will offer a unique perspective on Italy’s vision for Milano-Cortina 2026 (Olympic Winter Games: February 6–22, 2026; Paralympic Winter Games: March 6–15, 2026).
The evening will conclude with a special screening of La Valanga Azzurra, an iconic Italian documentary celebrating Italy’s alpine skiing heritage and Olympic triumphs.
In 2019, Milano and Cortina d’Ampezzo, together with the regions of Lombardy and Veneto and the autonomous provinces of Trento and Bolzano, secured the bid for the 2026 Games at the 134th session of the International Olympic Committee. The Games promise to be a beacon of sustainability, innovation, and Italian excellence on the global stage: 18 competition venues, 3,500+ athletes from 90+ countries, 304 events and 195 medals on 16 Olympic disciplines and 6 Paralympic disciplines, and an estimated 2 billion global viewers.
