Pandolfi and the battle against cancer

TORONTO – After speaking about space missions with Samantha Cristoforetti and car design with Giorgetto Giugiaro, the third event of the series “Italy Inspires Canada” will be about The Path Towards Cancer Eradication. As expected, Toronto will host an exceptional Italian guest, namely Pier Paolo Pandolfi. Among his many roles, Dr. Pandolfi is Professor of Medicine and Pathology at Harvard Medical School, the Chief of Division of Genetics at the Department of Medicine, and the Director of the Cancer Center & Cancer Research Institute at Beth Israel (Boston).
Recipient of numerous prestigious awards for his research, Pandolfi has been elucidating the molecular mechanisms and genetics underlying the pathogenesis of leukemias, lymphomas and solid tumours. Tuesday, November 29th at the OISE Auditorium at the University of Toronto, the Italian professor will dialogue with John Dick, Senior Scientist at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Professor of Molecular Genetics at the University of Toronto, and Director of the Cancer Stem Cell Program at the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research.
The two oncologists, presented by professor Leonardo Salmena, will speak to the public about the latest research and discoveries on the battle against cancer. The event is organized by the Consulate General of Italy, the Istituto Italiano di Cultura, the Emilio Goggio Chair in Italian Studies, University of Toronto, and ISSNAF Ontario with the support of the Italian Embassy in Canada.
